Fira means ‘celebrate’ in Swedish. A nice project for some scrap yarns. Each flag is worked bottom up in garter stitch, with smooth I-cord edges. Knit the I-cord sts on the RS and slip them with yarn in front on the WS. The flags are then joined together using a crochet hook. SIZE: Finished measurements of each flag: width 10 cm, height 12.5 cm.
GAUGE: 24 stitches & 24 ridges (48 rows) = 10 cm in garter stitch. The gauge is not crucial in this project.
YARN: The samples are worked using sport weight yarn, approx. 320m/100g. Each flag requires approx. 16m/5g of yarn. You´ll also need an additional amount of yarn to join the flags together. The pattern is easy to adapt and will work well with any yarn. Different yarn weights will result in smaller/larger flags. Choose a needle size that gives you a firm fabric. Adjust the size of the crochet hook accordingly.
NEEDLES & HOOK: 3 mm (US 2.5) circular needles 60 – 80 cm. Crochet hook 3 mm.
NOTIONS: Removable marker, tapestry needle.
