Insert cowl
Insert cowl is a beginner-friendly pattern, suitable for scrap yarns – work the cowl as written or make some broad block stripes, small stripes in different colours, or no stripes at all.
Insert cowl is worked in the round in stockinette stitch, with folded hems that are sewn in place afterward. An I-cord tie is threaded at the top edge.
SIZES: 1, (2, 3, 4). Finished circumference: 35, (38, 41, 44) cm. Length: 11, (13, 15, 17) cm.
GAUGE: 21 stitches & 30 rounds = 10 cm, worked in the round in stockinette stitch, on the larger needles.
YARN: Malabrigo Rios (100% wool, 192m/100g).
Colour A: 30, (35, 45, 50) m. Colour B: 60, (70, 85, 100) m.
Shown in size 2 (A: English rose, B: Pearl) and size 3 (A: Volcan, B: Pearl).
SUGGESTED NEEDLES: 4.5 mm (US7) circular needles 40 cm (or a needle size that gives you the correct gauge).
4 mm (US6) circular needles 40 cm (or a needle size that is 0.5 mm smaller than your gauge needles).
NOTIONS: Stitch marker, tapestry needle, safety pin.
