Muntra advent (English) – PDF

Muntra advent - a simple Christmas hat, worked in ribbing.

CONSTRUCTION
Muntra advent is worked in the round, bottom up in 1x1 ribbing. It starts with Tubular cast on, the brim is then worked in the round with yarn A. The body of the hat is worked with yarn B & C held together. The decreases are worked using DPNs or Magic Loop. The pompom is made using yarn A.

SIZES
1, (2, 3, 4). To fit head circumference: 46–49, (50–53, 54–57, 58–61) cm.

GAUGE
34 stitches & 30 rows = 10 cm worked with yarn A on the smaller needles, in 1x1 ribbing, unstretched, after blocking.

YARN A (brim and pompom): Sandnes Double Sunday (108m/50g) col. 1012 (off-white): 80, (90, 100, 105) m.
Yarn B (body): Sandnes Sunday (235m/50g) col. 4236 (red): 130, (160, 190, 210) m.
Yarn C (body): Isager Silk Mohair (212m/25g) col. 32 (red): 130, (160, 190, 210) m.

NEEDLES
3.5 mm (US4) circular needles 40 cm and a set of DPNs (or Magic Loop).
4.5 mm (US7) two circular needles (any length) for the cast on.

NOTIONS
Stitch markers, tapestry needle, pompom-maker Ø 45 mm, sharp scissors, steamer and tongs for steaming the pompom.

YARN SUBSTITUTES
Brim and pompom (off white)
Yarn A: The Fibre Company Cumbria, De Rerum Natura Gilliatt, Knitting for Olive Heavy Merino, Järbo Alpe or any similar yarn with 200–250m/100g. Choose a plied wool yarn, to get a good elasticity of the brim.
Body of the hat (red)
Yarn B: Knitting for Olive Merino, Isager Alpaca 2, Holst Supersoft, or any similar yarn with approx. 500m/100g.
held together with
Yarn C: Sandnes Tynn Silk Mohair, Filcolana Tilia, Rauma Plum, Knitting for Olive Soft Silk Mohair, CaMaRose Midnatssol, Gepard Kid Seta, or any similar yarn with approx. 220m/25g.
 
If you wish to work the hat without mohair you may replace yarn B+C (the body of the hat) with one strand of DK/worsted yarn – see suggestions for yarn A.
