Muntra (English) – PDF

Muntra is a basic hat for everyday use.
It’s a classic design, perfect for gifts.

The hat is very stretchy due to the ribbing.
It is available in eight sizes and two lengths: the short one is shown without a fold, the long one is shown with a folded brim.
The short hat may be worn with a folded brim as well, for a tight fit at a top.
You can easily adjust the length of the hat to your own preferences, if you wish to get a slouchier hat, or a broader fold at the brim.
Bear in mind that you will need more yarn if you wish to add some extra length.

CONSTRUCTION
Muntra is worked bottom up. It starts with Tubular Cast On, then the body is worked in the round, in 1x1 ribbing. The crown decreases are worked using DPNs or Magic Loop.

SIZES
1, 2, (3, 4), 5, 6, [7, 8]. To fit head circumference: 46–47, 48–49,
(50–51, 52–53), 54–55, 56–57, [58–59, 60–61] cm.

GAUGE
34 stitches & 30 rows = 10 cm worked in the round on the smaller needles, in 1x1 ribbing, unstretched, after blocking.

YARN
Plied, soft wool yarn with good elasticity, approx. 200-250m/100g, for example The Fibre Company Cumbria (216m/100g), Sandnes Double Sunday (108m/50g), De Rerum Natura Gilliatt (250m/100g).
Short hat: approx. 120, 125, (135, 140), 150, 160, [170, 180] meters.
Long hat: approx. 150, 160, (165, 170), 185, 200, [215, 230] meters.

NEEDLES
3.5 mm (US4) circ. needles 40 cm and a set of DPNs (or Magic Loop).
4.5 mm (US7) two circular needles (any length) for the cast on.

NOTIONS
Stitch markers, tapestry needle.
